Are Chortle daydreaming?
I think Chortle have got their facts wrong (and not for the first time). I only know of a pilot being made for this (the one where I was a bit corpse-like in the audience. Damn that lurgey!) , not a whole series. It would be a bad idea at the moment, what with them currently involved in other much funnier things, not to mention the forthcoming endless publicity for a certain film, current sitcom and forthcoming radio and television sketch shows …
Wireless Webb
Radio 2 show for M&W
David Mitchell and Robert Webb have written a sci-fi comedy for Radio 2. The Peep Show pair will also star in the series, Daydream Believers, when it is broadcast next month. They will again play flatmates: Mitchell as tetchy sci-fi writer Ray and Webb as aimless Colin, who keeps interrupting him as he tries to work. Ray ends up incorporating their mundane conversations into the adventures of alien Baron Amstrad and his constantly-interrupting android companion, Info. Both are again played by Mitchell and Webb.
The show was first conceived as a Comedy Lab pilot for Channel 4 in 2001.
Daydream Believers – which also stars long-term Mitchell and Webb collaborators Olivia Colman and Mark Evans, plus Mark Benton and Simon Greenall – starts on Radio 2 at 1pm on May 5.
