I still hate Ricky Gervais

Bruiser was transmitted in 2000 and written by David Mitchell and Robert Webb with additional material by half a dozen or so other writers. It has Olivia Colman in it, as you'd expect.
Bruiser
I think the 'additional material' credit that that bloody Gervais man originally got is hardly enough to justify the hideous circular thing on the cover, don't you?

Another reason to spit on the Gervais bandwagon. Oh well.

The DVD is released on 23rd July. I think you should buy it.

I agree on the Gervais blot, but if it helps get Bruiser released I'm keeping quiet. Hoping it's just a sticker on the overwrap...

Both Mr M and Mr W are genuinely surprised by the amount of Gervais promotion on the packaging. You'd have thought that the Mitchell and Webb/Colman/Freeman/Holness thing would have done it pretty well.

Hurrah for views from the horse's mouth. Only it's not a horse.

It should indeed be enough that some very funny people are in the thing.

Thanks, Bachman...

I don't mean surprised in a bad way of course. They like Gervais as much as the next man (except you, Dan) and he's always been lovely about Peepshow.

To be honest, they have nothing to do with this DVD release - it's a BBC thing, and I should imagine they handed over the rights years ago when they signed the original contracts.

Dan can always pick off the sticker :)

Indeed on David's Wikipedia page it says about Bruiser, 'Additional material for the show was provided by various people, most notably Ricky Gervais and James Bachman.'

I co-wrote one sketch. So 'notably' is perhaps the wrong word.

I'm seriously excited, my copy has been despatched by Amazon (also added Box Set of Peep Show), so much to Husband's disgust it will be a full on M & W weekend.

Huzzah! I'm so glad that the show is finally on DVD! Thanks for the update!

Oh my giddy aunt. that's terrible. I really like David Mitchell and Robert Webb, but that awful "hits of the '70s" style sticker proclaiming the involvement of that bloody Gervais plop-pants is enough to put me off. Ricky Gervais is the most overrated unfunny, arrogant codswallop since Vic Reeves. Although, I must say, Vic has swelled in my opinion e'er since Ricky Gervais spluttered upon the scene. The guy's an utter limp rag. Freddie Starr was more funny. Yes. I mean that. Sorry.
