Episode six: “I’ve got my BMW outside.”

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

Final one!
6

Identity Killer 1. Originally shown in one big chunk at the recording but there were several other long sketches in this episode so I can see why it was cut into pieces.

Helivets: Fish.

Matchmaking with Scarecrow. Another lovely long sketch with just the right amount of silliness.

Identity Killer 2.

Director: Bath scene 1: Plan.

War On Bill Oddie. Filmed at TV Centre on 3rd August 2007.

Director: Bath scene 2: Wheel Of Doom.

Horse: Happy Birthday. There was one more of these that wasn’t used.

Colin and Ray: Football. Filmed at TV Centre on 10th August 2007. This is the pub sketch from the radio series 3 episode 1 slightly re-written to suit the Colin and Ray characters. There was a retake when David decided that they were in fact discussing “footfall”.

Boot sale: Holy Grail. Note to producers: Good idea not to use the Slash one.

Behind the scenes: Wigs. This sketch leads to a couple of deleted scenes. If you recognised Rob’s wig and watched the first series you’ll know who he would have been playing.

Numberwang Night: History of Numberwang. Oh yes, great ending to a great series.

I shall do a ramble about the deleted scenes for this series soon.

Episode Five: "Remember it like racism, white is right!"

Friday, March 21st, 2008

It’s the penultimate one…
episode 5
Tamberlain Chamberlain dies of embarrassment.

Lab 1: Hole in biohazard suit. Meh!

Property show: Avocado bath suite. Good old-fashioned sketch no doubt inspired by too much daytime television.

‘Reel Stories’ : Rebecca. As tried out at the Drill Hall, and finally shown on the the telly in one big chunk instead of the three pieces at the recording, which, in this reviewer’s opinion, works really very well.

Colin & Ray: Bluetooth. This was recorded at TV Centre on 10th August in front of clapping comedy nerds who may have got a little impatient when the words got spoken in the wrong order and the bluetooth phone beeped during one of the many takes. Will the ‘football’ one be in the final episode next week?

Boot sale 1: Narnia wardrobe 1.

Lab 2: Ebola thermos.

Boot sale 1: Narnia wardrobe 2. Two more of these boot sale sketches were made, will they turn up next week?

Sir Digby: Beach / hospital.

News: What do you think? From the radio series 3 episode 1 and another good example of Mitchell & Webb rage made fun.

Behind The Ssenes: Digby outfits: farting on balls.

Lyndsay Davenport. From radio series 3 epiosde 2. This was the first sketch recorded at the first studio audience recording for this series, on 3rd August.

Lab 3: Kick me.

Behind The Scenes: Lab: Myth Child.

News: Alien invasion. From radio series 3 episde 1. The “imminent molecular destruction” line was particularly hard to get right on the night and David’s wig hurt his head. I am so full of nonsense facts.

More Looks

Some more sketches for anyone who missed them:

“Is the kidnapper there at all please?”

“Mayfair 426…”

“Petril!”

Episode 4: "Everythings fine. Fear it! Fear it!"

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

Another episode sketchy list follows after the picture…
episode 4
Naming 1: West Indies.

Inappropriate cards at a wedding.

Elevenses Television: The Mrs. Patricia Wilberforce Show. A natural sequel to last year’s This Is Television sketches that didn’t all get used.

Horse 2: Song. Oh dear. No need to repeat that joke.

Naming 2: Virginia.

Little Date 1: Library. From radio S3E6. They also filmed the ‘Teacher’ one.
Behind the scenes: Stalingrad documentary.

News 1: Fine after major incident. More of this sort of thing to follow next week.

Archaeological dig: Video tape. Nice long silly one.

Colin & Ray 3: Time traveler. This is the 3rd of 4 in a series. Rob kept messing up his long speeches so it took a while to record. The coffee carried by Mark Evans as the time traveller allegedly had a “pork pie vapour flavour”.

Behind the scenes: David is the clever one.

Naming 3: New South Wales.

Working and wanking at home. Filmed in front of a studio audience on 3rd August after being trialed at the Drill Hall sessions. Re-takes led to ‘hilarious’ topping up of the prop wine glasses.

Flamingo World. Another one of those wonderful long weird sily one-off sketches.

Behind the scenes: Unisex nudist sauna.

Naming 4: Greenland. At least two too many of these were used. In my opinion.

Spoiler (if such things exist for comedy sketches) alert!

We all loved the “What do you reckon?” sketches at the filming.

Episode 3: "We got stumps in us blood!"

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

It’s time for another list of sketches with optional facts…
episode 3
TV format development work experience.

Helivets: Gerbil. One more of these remains unseen.

Lazy writers: Cricket movie. Adapted from the radio sketch in series 2 episode 6. Hurrah!

Sir Digby: Stately home / The Countess. Becoming a bit ‘Catherine Tatey’ now.

Alan Has Nineteen Penises.

Who Let The Dogs Out? From radio series 3 episode 2 and filmed in front of a live studio audience at TV Centre on 17th August 2007.

Cheesoid 1: Origin. Bloody fantastic and a nice long sketch. More, please.

Back To Life Back To Reality 1: Introduction. Not all that funny and there were three more of these sketches made.

Horse 1: French.

Two Sugars S’Il Vous Plait. Phil Gallows was originally named Dan Gordon at the early stages of the sketch, as seen at the Drill Hall warm-up. that name sounds a bit like someone else you may have heard of. Hmm… The transmitted version was filmed in front of a live studio audience at TV Centre on 17th August 2007.

Cheesoid 2: Cheese/petrol. Heartbreaking!

Behind the scenes: Cheese making.
